We all have our own perspectives on mindfulness, centering, focus, awareness and meditation. Here is mine.
The whole spectrum of topics and approaches are available from myriad sources, running from how to reduce stress to pursing the divine. With no end in sight the apps, essays, podcasts and books are flowing. They all the share one thing: calming the mind from runaway thoughts, and most include breath and body work as well. Most of my coaching clients want to do something more or better with their attempts at being aware and mindful. Most of us want to still the mind and activate the heart. We want broad mind, deep mind, whole mind.
My take on this all is as an observer, a practitioner, and someone who appreciates language as a gateway to the realities both beyond normal thinking states, where we spend most of our lives, and bigger than language can describe.
But language can help point the way. I have spent a few years of elapsed time and hundreds of hours at the keyboard, letting my thoughts steep and the writing ripen. Here are sample chapter titles, not fully descriptive, but they provide a bit of a clue as to what it may contain
- Mindful Mind over Thinking Mind
- Extending Beyond Yourself
- Halting The Inner Editor
- Going Humble and Gratefu
- Grow the Love: Accentuate the Kind
- Be the Water
- Release the Future
- Step Back: Find the Depth
